Who is behind The Sparrowhawk Practice?

My name is Hollie Sparrowhawk and I was born and raised in Cambridge, the UK. After living in Australia, I moved to Amsterdam where I completed my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology, focusing on clinical child and adolescent psychology. Outside the UK, I have gained experience working with international children and teenagers in various contexts. I love working creatively with young people and parents, using art, music or movement in treatment. Connecting with clients and finding ways to incorporate their interests into sessions is incredibly enjoyable.

After over 2 years working in two large international clinics in the Hague and Amsterdam, I am now working with clients independently in a beautiful office and community: Stories in Amsterdam.

As well as working in a traditional 1-1 therapy environment, I also work in a specialised daycare setting as an educator for children with Autism. In this setting, my work is focused on the principles of DIR/Floortime, which guides my efforts in supporting the cognitive and social-emotional development of children with Autism. I also work collaboratively with other specialists, such as speech, movement and sensory integration experts.

The mission of The Sparrowhawk Practice is to extend a compassionate hand to internationals living in the Netherlands. I aim to create a warm, accepting, and open space to explore a young person's or family’s perspective and support their development. It is important for me to work with what is most helpful for the young person and/or family, to facilitate your aspirations for how you wish to live your lives.
